Tan Son Nhat International Airport and How to get to city center

Ho Chi Minh city or Saigon airport with official name is Tan Son Nhat international airport. Unlike other big airports, this one locates in the city, Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City, 8km to the north.

Initially, The French people built the airport and the first landing was from France in the 1930s. Then the American widened the runaway and nowadays Tan Son Nhat airport become the biggest one in the south of Vietnam and it is one of the busiest terminal in Southeast Asia.

For the construction, it likes Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi. The airport has two terminals, domestic T1 and International T2 those are in a short distance that we could walk.

International T2 information:
1st Floor: International arrival, baggage claims
2nd Floor: International arrival, Immigration area, landing Visa counter.
3rd Floor: Departure terminal, check in counters
4th Floor: Restaurants, Café, Spa.

-Bank services and ATM machines. There are many ATM in the airport, and you can easily find 4 at the column 14 , and 1 at the Column 13 in the 1st floor of international airport.
-Medical Service: open 24/7 at airport. Always ready to serve clients.
-Luggage keeping services: At number 13 and 14 counter, first floor of arrival terminal. The serving from 7.00 to 23.00. Therefore, tourists could join in a trip to the city without carrying luggage if they have short time for transit.
-Children entertainmentarea at 2nd floor of international departure. This area is after the security checking.
-Baggage wrapping services: There are 3 counters in the domestic terminal near D2 gate. 2 counters are near D1 and D2 of international arrival gate.
-Money exchange service: Near Gate number 17, 18 of arrival international terminal. Normally, 1 USD could change to 23 000 VND.
-Duty Free shops to serve clients for shopping and souvenirs.

Besides, there are some free services such as internet Wifi at both terminals, opening 24/7. Free Charging for phones and laptops.
Sleepingpod service: For waiting the transit, tourists could use the sleepingpod at 2rd floor of international arrival terminal, it is near 21 and 22 gate, still in the security checking area.

How to transfer from Tan Son Nhat airport to Ho Chi Minh City center?
Although, the airport is in the city, the distance from Saigon airport to city center is about 8km and it is impossible for walking.
There are some ways to transfer to the city:

-Airport taxi: You should choose the good taxis such as Mai Linh:028 38 38 38 38 , Airport Taxi: 028 38 42 42 42, Saigon Taxi: 028 38 23 23 23, Vinasun taxi: 028 38 27 27 27.
It costs around 200 000 VND (about 9 USD).

-Grab App: use this one to call a car, it may be good as you know the price in advance and the car’s location. You will have to wait for their coming to pick you up.
In case you do not have many luggage and you would like to enjoy the motorbike riding, you can use Motorbike Grab.

- By Private car: you will have to book this service in advance through online travel agents or online transportation services.
Once you land, the driver will welcome you and take you to the car as well as transfer to your hotel in the city center quickly and smoothly.

-By Local bus: This is the cheapest option for your transfer from Ho Chi Minh airport to the city.
There are 5 bus routes as below:
Route number 152, 109, 119, 159 and 49.
Route 152: start at 5.45 and the last one at 18.00
Bus schedule: Every 12- 18 minute.
Running time: 55 minutes.
Ticket fare: 7000 VND/time (about 30 cents)

Route 109: start at 0.00 and the last one at 23.40
Bus schedule: Every 15- 30 minutes.
Running time: 45 minutes.

Route 119: start at 4.40 and the last one at 21.00
