  • Golf has steadily developed in recent years in Vietnam and a series of golf courses have been built from North to South. Here are the top 5 most beautiful golf courses in Vietnam for professional golfers.

    1. Danang/Hoi An Golf Courses

With a beautiful and pristine beach, Hoi An town is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and two excellent golf courses designed by Colin Montgomerie (Montgomerie Links) and Greg Norman (Da Nang Golf Club) would be the most valuable golf destinations in Vietnam. It takes a domestic flight from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to get there (there are daily flights) and heavy traffic is also something golfers should be aware of.

    2. Dalat Golf Courses

Dalat Palace Golf Club is known as the oldest golf course in the country (the first 9-hole golf course was built in the 1920s). Dalat has an altitude of 1,500 metres above sea level, about a 1-hour flight from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. Called the "eternal spring" city for its perfect year-round temperatures and beautiful gardens, Dalat was a favourite retreat of the French elite during colonial times and a place where young Vietnamese go on their honeymoon today. It's a quiet destination for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of big cities and a nice place to spend a few days playing golf.

    3. Hanoi Golf Courses

The capital has direct flight connections to many Asian cities and also has some very good golf courses (better than Ho Chi Minh City). Possessing famous attractions, Hanoi is considered the cultural capital of the country. There are 3 good golf courses within 45-90 minutes’ drive from the city hotels: Hanoi Golf Club, Long Bien Golf Course, BRG Golf Centre, and another great golf course of 36 holes about 2 hours from the centre by car.

    4. Golf courses in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

The largest city in the country, Ho Chi Minh City is the main international port with the most international flights. District 1 in the city centre is where most expats stay due to the many restaurants, pubs, shops, parks, etc., and a livelier nightlife than in other parts of Vietnam.

There are 3 international level golf courses near the town: Tan Son Nhat, Twin Doves, and Harmonie open to visitors on weekdays. Each golf course has 27 or 36 holes, and all three are approximately 60-80 minutes from District 1 hotels depending on traffic.

Phan Thiet is Vietnam's main fishing port and Mui Ne is famous for its stunning, pristine beaches. The area has two of the best golf courses - Ocean Dunes Golf Club, designed by Nick Faldo, and a newer course - Sea Links Country & Golf Club - known as the toughest beachfront Links golf course in Southeast Asia. It will take about 4 hours from Ho Chi Minh City or about 3.5 hours from Dalat by road vehicle to reach these places.
