For the many reasons to visit Vietnam, it may come as a surprise that Vietnam's excellent golf courses are among them. Yet the recent movement in the Vietnam golf scene has proved just that. In fact, golf tours in Vietnam are already immensely popular and particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. For golf enthusiasts who haven't experienced it yet, here are the top 5 reasons to take a golf trip to Vietnam.

1. World-class golf course
In the introduction, reference was made to emerging golf courses in Vietnam. Golf is relatively new to Vietnam for the most part, with the past decade having seen an alarming rate of change. Fabulous golf courses in stunning locations, featuring the most modern designs, have sprung up all over the country. Golfers can choose to play in the mountains, by the sea, in the rainforests, or in a combination of all of these. The best designers in the golf industry have taken advantage of incredible landscapes to create layouts that can easily rank among the best.
It doesn't matter which destination you choose for your Vietnam golf trip. You can visit Hanoi and be spoiled for choice or, for that matter, play along Halong Bay. You could be in Danang, which may well start to rank as the best golf destination in Asia. Danang has golf courses designed by Greg Norman, Sir Nick Faldo, Nicklaus Design, Robert Trent Jones Jr, Colin Montgomerie, and Luke Donald. Or you can choose Nha Trang, well known for its incredible beaches and seafood. If Ho Chi Minh City is where you want to be, there's no shortage of top-quality golf either. To add to all that, there are quieter destinations, if that's what you want. Quy Nhon, Dalat, and Phu Quoc are among those to consider for a laid-back experience.
2. Service and hospitality
To complement the superb amenities and stunning scenery, the supporting infrastructure is also world-class. Spacious clubs, five-star locker rooms, well-equipped pro shops, and international dining options complete the Vietnam golf course experience. The caddies, mostly women, are well-trained and well prepared which makes the golf experience a memorable one.
3. Climate suitable for golf almost all year round
Depending on which part of the country you want to visit, there is hardly a bad time for a Vietnam golf tour. June through October can be rainy in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, but rarely disruptive enough to ruin a game of golf. The same goes for the rainy period of Danang between November and January or that of Nha Trang between October and December. That said, overall, January to March are the best times for a Vietnam golf tour. This period bodes very well for golfers in North America or Europe where golf courses tend to be closed.
4. Great options for experiences beyond golf
All considerations for a golf destination are not just about the golf courses or the golf experience on offer. While golf is the main activity, golf tourists seek the full experience. This extends to eating, drinking and entertainment, sightseeing, and experiencing local culture. This is where it's hard to go wrong in Vietnam.
Vietnam is a fabulous destination on all the above points. The landscapes are as magnificent as they are varied depending on the part of the country you are visiting. The culture never betrays its roots in unique traditions, even while embracing the bustle of a rapidly growing economy. The food and variety it offers is a unique treat, no matter which sense it appeals to. There's no shortage of drinking options - but nothing beats a curbside 'bia-hoi' experience at incredible prices. And if you want to party, sing, and dance – there are also many options – especially in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, and Nha Trang. Or if you just want a relaxing, calming massage to rid yourself of golf fatigue, there are plenty of choices.
5. Easy access to most destinations
At least 4 golf destinations in Vietnam enjoy international connectivity. Of these, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are connected with flights from all over the world. Danang and Nha Trang are also connected with flights from Thailand, China, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea. For all other destinations, there is excellent connectivity from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi by local carriers. This makes getting to your destination of choice for a Vietnam golf vacation quite easy and smooth.
