In Hanoi city tour program, we see that the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is the unmissable place to visit. The Mausoleum is historic with respect the great leader of Vietnam and also a special unique architecture work. Therefore, every day, thousands of domestic and foreigner visitors come to visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum area. It is one of the most attractive places to visit in Hanoi.

Why it is so attractive?
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is also called President Ho Mausoleum, it is the place where Ho Chi Minh’ body is located. It was officially started to build on 2 Sept 1973 in Ba Dinh square at the same place where president Ho read the independence declare on 2 Sept 1945.
The mausoleum was inaugurated on 29 Aug 1975.
The height is 21.6m and the width is 41.2m.

Outside the mausoleum is covered with gray granite. Inside is made of polished gray and red stones. On the top of the middle the mausoleum is the words “CHU TICH HO CHI MINH” (means President Ho Chi Minh) by prune red stone from Cao Bang province.
Surrounding the mausoleum is the gardens where more than 250 species of plants are grown from all over Vietnam.

The mausoleum’s gate is made from precious timber trees from the central highland of Vietnam.
The lobby is tiled and paneled by pink marble stone to make the background for the words” khong co gi quy hon doc lap tu do” means “nothing is more precious than independence and freedom” and there is a Ho Chi Minh’s signature is inlaid with gold.

Both sides of the main door are frangipani trees. In front of and behind the mausoleum are 79 Cycas revolute trees presenting the age of Ho Chi Minh president.
Two side of mausoleum, in the north and in the south are two bamboo ranges, the symbolic tree for Vietnam.
In front of the main gate, there are 2 standing guards. They will change the guard every hour.

Things to keep in mind when visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum:
Mausoleum is free of charge for admission fee. And to respect Vietnamese great leader, visitors will be required to follow some requirements such as dressing properly (not wearing shorts, sleeveless shirts and miniskirts)
No taking camera, video cameras, cell phones, not carrying foods, drinking and keep the order in the mausoleum…

Visiting time:
Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is open 5 days a week in the morning from Tuesday to Saturday, Sunday. Closed on Friday and Monday.
In the summer from 7.30 to 10.30
In the winter: from 8.00 to 11.00
Holidays, Saturday and Sunday are open for an additional 30 minutes.
Every year, the Mausoleum will be closed for 2 months to renovate from October to November.
The mausoleum is still open on Friday and Monday if it is on May 19 (Ho Chi Minh’s birthday) 2 Sept (Independence day) 1 Jan and Lunar New year.
