A family trip to Vietnam will be the adventure of a lifetime for your whole family. There are many exciting activities across the country for children of all ages. For your convenience, we suggest the following places and activities when vacationing with your children in Vietnam.
1.1. Explore life along the Mekong Delta
The Mekong Delta in the southern region of Vietnam is one of the most popular regions in the whole country. Your children will enjoy travelling these waterways and meeting the inhabitants of the surrounding villages, whose life is centred around the delta.
Take a boat ride and explore the fascinating floating markets and distinct traditions that take place daily on the banks of the Mekong Delta.
1.2. Learn about native wildlife
Take your kids to visit the Cuc Phuong Primate Rescue Centre, where they can get up close and personal with several endangered species of langur (a species of monkey).
At this ethically run institution, your children will enjoy learning about the animals native to Vietnam, as well as what we can do to help protect these animals and their natural habitat.
1.3. Take a cooking class and taste local snacks
Vietnamese cuisine is known for using fresh ingredients to create savoury and unique flavours. Be sure to try the local street food, especially when travelling to big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City where snack vendors are plentiful.
Your whole family will appreciate being able to sample traditional treats like beef noodles and Vietnamese chicken wings with hot sauce.
When visiting Hoi An ancient town, your kids will love taking part in one of the area's famous cooking classes. Experienced local chefs will teach your family how to cook classic Vietnamese dishes like noodles and spring rolls. You can taste your creations and take home authentic recipes.

2. Cultural customs
The Vietnamese are very welcoming towards children. In traditional culture, young people are cherished, protected and adored by older members of the community. Most restaurants, hotels, and other places of interest are child-friendly and accommodating. Don't be surprised if your family easily attracts the attention of curious locals.
3. Health and Safety Tips
Although Vietnam is a safe and wonderful destination for your whole family, travellers should make sure to be careful, especially when travelling with children. We suggest customers take the following precautions to ensure a seamless travel experience.
3.1. Health
+ Bring a basic medical kit and your own medicines from home, as many Western medicines cannot be found in Vietnam.
+ Do not drink tap water and avoid ice and unpeeled fruit, as these can be contaminated.
+ Because Vietnam is hot most of the year, be sure to bring plenty of bottled water during daily activities, to keep you and your family hydrated.
3.2. Security
+ Beware of petty theft and keep your valuables in a safe place, especially when walking in tourist areas.
+ Opt for Mai Linh legal green taxis and avoid motorcycle taxis when travelling around town.
+ Beware of strong currents on the beach and stay in areas where lifeguards are on duty.
