About Phu Bai International Airport

Located near National Highway 1A, Phu Bai International Airport is 15 kilometres from downtown Hue, in Phu Bai Ward, Huong Thuy Village, Thua Thien Hue Province.

Despite its name, there are currently only three national companies operating at Phu Bai Airport. In addition, its capacity for travellers does not correspond currently to the increasing demand of circulation. In fact, both international and domestic tourists still share the domestic terminal to this day. A project to renovate and expand Phu Bai Airport has been approved and the necessary procedures have been accelerated for some time now.

The three active airlines at Phu Bai Airport are Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air and Jetstar. They offer around 24 direct flights between Saigon-Hue and Hanoi-Hue:

+ Flight Hue - Saigon: 18 trips per days

Modes of transport between Hue Airport and the city centre

Public bus: 2 and 11

Given the location of Phu Bai Airport being not far from the city centre, the bus is a great option to reach the city of Hue. There are two buses connecting Hue Airport to the city centre:

Bus 2: North Bus Station - South Bus Station - Phu Bai Industrial Zone

Itinerary: North Bus Station - Le Duan - Tran Hung Dao - Le Loi - Nguyen Hue - Dong Da - Le Quy Don - Ba Trieu - Hung Vuong - An Duong Vuong - South Bus Station - National Highway 1A - Phu Thu Industrial Zone - Phu Bai Airport - Phu Bai Toll - Vinh Hien and vice versa.

Bus 11: North Bus Station - Phu Bai Industrial Zone - Vinh Hien

Itinerary: North Bus Station - Le Duan - Tran Hung Dao – Le Loi - Nguyen Hue - Dong Da - Le Quy Don - Ba Trieu - Hung Vuong - An Duong Vuong - South Bus Station - National Highway 1A - Phu Thu Industrial Zone - Phu Bai Airport - Phu Bai Toll - Vinh Hien and vice versa.

Departure: from 9h15 to 19h
Frequency: 30 to 60 minutes
One way ticket: between 7.000 VND and 20.000 VND, depending on the route
+ Departure from the North Bus Station - Phu Bai: 7000 VND / person
+ For other points, the price can go up to 25.000 VND / person, depending on the trip

Even though it’s economical, the bus is not a wise choice for passengers who do not have enough time to wait half an hour or even up to an hour for their trip.

Taxi at Phu Bai Airport

The fastest and most convenient way to get from Phu Bai Airport to the city centre is definitely the taxi, which offers a wide range of choices on the spot. It is better to check in advance a fixed cost for your trip or based on the meter in kilometres.

Another way to get to downtown Hue from Phu Bai Airport is the shuttle bus which will go to 20 Hanoi Street, Hue City.
