Extension of the visa waiver for tourists from Western Europe

Vietnamese government has announced a decision to extend the visa waiver by one year for tourists from 5 European countries (Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain).
This was proclaimed by Mai Tien Dung, Minister and President of the Government Office, during a session held on June 3rd, 2017. In this direction, tourists from Western Europe will be exempt from visa from July 1st, 2017 until June 30th, 2018 for stays up to 15 days.
This facility was set up on an experimental basis two years ago, validated from July 1st, 2015 to June 30th, 2016. The first extension was in effect until June 30th, 2017. In addition, the Tourism Association and the Tourism Advisory Council unanimously submitted to the Prime Minister the proposal to extend the application of the measure up to 5 years against one, and the exemption period of 30-day visa, currently compared to 15.According to statistics, in the first five months of 2017, the number of international tourists coming to Vietnam reached 5.3 million which increased 30.8% in comparison with the same period of previous year.
