Visiting a fishing village on an island is an extraordinary experience. Tri Nguyen Village is a collection of about 50 households, hidden behind the mountain of the Tri Nguyen group of islands, Vinh Nguyen District, Nha Trang.

The entire island of Tri Nguyen was once uninhabited. Heavy storms forced fishermen from central provinces such as Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Quang Nam to take shelter in the area with their boats. Afterwards, they chose Tri Nguyen Island and other islands in Nha Trang to start a new life, going out by boat every day to hunt fish and shrimp.

The fishing village is only a part of the population of Tri Nguyen Island. A small strait filled with houses, numerous boats and cages for breeding fish and shrimp resembles a village floating on the sea. The owners of tourist boats often introduce guests to the village for lunch and dinner. This way of tasting seafood certainly becomes an unforgettable experience for tourists.

The cool sea breeze and blue sea make the feeling serene. From Cau Da Port, the ship just went to the sea to see the shrimp and fish breeding cages considered as floating houses. There are also houses for owners to stay in the middle of the sea to keep their property.

The owners of these cages are very welcoming. Travelers can easily stop at a certain cage to directly hunt fish and cook them themselves. In Tri Nguyen, several restaurants specialize in tourist service.

Tourists visit floating cages the size of a fishing village

Travelers could try to conquer the sea with a basketboat. Being a new beginner, we will probably spin the basket. Moving forward like little boys used to this means of transport is impossible. These cages located in the middle of the sea are raised by local people to serve tourists.

The cage is very large, over 150 meters, with many different compartments, each containing a type of sea creature. The whole cage is full of fish, squid and snails which attract tourists.

Tourists will enjoy fishing for squid. The fishing rod only attaches a live crab as bait. Catching squid or fish is also a feat. It appears that these animals have been fished several times, and when pulled they struggle violently.

Sitting in a house overlooking the sea to contemplate the sun on the other side of the mountain, the changing color of the sea and tasting the fresh food, it is delicious for an afternoon to enjoy the atmosphere of the fishermen's village. While waiting for the dishes to be prepared, tourists can also walk along small coastal paths or explore the residential area. We will see a peaceful village where people only come and go on foot because the roads are too short and too small, and no one rides a bike or motorbike.
