In 1933, French priest Louis Vallet (1869-1945), caring for the parishioners of Cho Moi, built the cathedral under the technical guidance of Mr. Nesty - the famous French architect of the time. The church is located on top of the 12m high Hoang Lan Hill, with an area of 4,500 m2.

The statue of the Virgin Mary is in front of the church.

The entire church consists of solid walls constructed from cement board blocks by priest Louis Vallet and his associates. Due to its square shape and stone-gray color, many people think that this church was made of split stone. In fact, the stone was only used to pave the church courtyard.

The highest point of the church is the bell tower with the cross located 38 m high above the road. The set of three bells is made by the famous French bell house Bourdon Carillond. The four sides of the bell tower are equipped with four large white clocks typical of Western church architecture.

The cathedral is designed in a hemispherical shape. On the roof, many delicately carved designs are surrounded by colorful rose windows. In the cathedral, light enters from both directions, through the stained glass windows, creating a colorful space. These remarkable stained glass windows represent saints, the majority of whom are French, such as Joan of Arc, or the Curé d’Ars, and episodes from the life of Jesus.
