Citizens from five European countries (Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain) will be able to benefit from the visa exemption until June 2021. This was adopted by the Vietnamese Prime Minister at the last meeting held on May 3rd.

According to this announcement, the visa waiver will be extended for a period of three years instead of one year now. And this is valid from July 1, 2018 until June 30, 2021 for stays up to 15 days. This is the third visa extension for the mentioned countries.
With regard to the proposal to increase the length of the applicable stay from 15 days to 30 days and to expand the list of beneficiary countries, the Government plans to proceed with an assessment of the measures put in place on an experimental basis before taking new decisions.
Given that the second visa exemption that applies from July 1, 2017 will expire, not far, to June 30, 2018, this good news would certainly be applauded by all those who wish to disembark at Vienam.

The number of Western European tourists that the country has hosted was 720,000; 855,000 and 1.5 million respectively in 2015, 2016 and 2017, according to the latest statistics. These encouraging results are explained, according to the Prime Minister, in large part by the improvement of consular formalities and the promotion of national tourism. Vietnam has experienced a steady growth of nearly 30% of international tourists.
