Hanoi arrival (-/-/D)

Day 01 : Hanoi arrival (-/-/D)

Be welcomed at the airport by our Authentik Travel's tour guide and transfer to your hotel in the city center.

Check in at your hotel (after 12:00pm) or leave your luggage at the hotel and enjoy a walk in the old quarter. The city was built in the 10th century by the villagers near the Red River Delta. You can see the special architecture in the houses with their narrow width and deep length. You will be able to discover some popular streets such as Ma May, Hang Ma, Hang Dong, Hang Bac and Hang Gai and for tourist sites stop at Dong Xuan market, the biggest market in the northern Vietnam, Bach Ma temple (White horse temple) and the traditional ancient house at 87 Ma May Street. Head back to your hotel.
 

Hanoi - Mai Hich (B/L/D)

Day 02 : Hanoi - Mai Hich (B/L/D)

At 8.00am, meet our Authentik Travel tour guide and driver, then depart to Mai Chau where the Muong people live.
On the way, we will visit a Muong village at Cau Trong. Continue to the Thung Khe pass which offers a splendid panoramic view of the valley before arriving in Mai Chau town. 

Mai Chau is a beautiful valley, located 150km away from Hanoi. It is great place with harmonious landscapes, green mountain ranges, rice terraces, villages, White Thai ethnic people and their houses on stilts.
Arrive at around 12:00pm and enjoy lunch with delicious traditional food from the village. Relax then discover the valley by bike or on foot to Na Phon, through the rice fields and villages. Discover the local culture and the locals daily life. On the way, see the rural work on rice fields, weaving craftsman, encounter the locals, and visit a Thai family. All of these make up the authentic life of the locals in this region.

Go back to the village for dinner and enjoy a homestay at the village (stay at the house on stilts for a comfortable authentic experience with basic equipment.
Included: clean mattress, pillow, mosquito net, blankets, outside WC)
Option: you could attend a traditional dancing show while tasting local alcohol (On request)

Mai Hich - Eo Ken - Chieng Lau - Don Village (B/L/D)

Day 03 : Mai Hich - Eo Ken - Chieng Lau - Don Village (B/L/D)

Enjoy your breakfast at the village and transfer to Eo Ken, 30km away from Mai Hich.
Arrive in Eo Ken where the Muong ethnic group lives. Walk down the slope and enjoy the spectacular view of Pu Luong Nature reserve, rice field terraces and mountains. Visit a Muong ethnic family in Eo Ken village and discover their authentic life.

Continue walking through this beautiful landscape and cross a stream to reach another village, Hang Village. Have lunch at a local family home or enjoy a picnic.
In the afternoon, transfer to Chieng Lau Village a beautiful rice field area with bamboo water wheels, and walk through the fields to the village and encounter the locals to discover their life, culture and customs.

Another highlight of the day is taking a bamboo raft along the river which will give you an exceptional moment of relaxation after walking.
Transfer to Don Village for dinner and stay overnight.
 

Don - Uoi - Chom Lan Village - Sacred fish - Hanoi. (B/L/-)

Day 04 : Don - Uoi - Chom Lan Village - Sacred fish - Hanoi. (B/L/-)

Enjoy breakfast then start a new day by trekking down to the splendid valley of the rice terraces.
On the way, encounter the ethnic people who colorize the rice field with their traditional clothing. Your camera should be ready for some wonderful and unique photos. You will pass through some villages such as Uoi, Lan Ngoai, Du, and Leo.

They are home to the friendly Thai ethnic group who live in houses on stilts. A memorable encounter is guaranteed whenever you visit their house.
Meet our driver for a transfer to Hanoi. On the way, visit the sacred fish stream in Cam Luong. This place is well known for a special kind of fish in the stream. It is called a sacred fish for the many mysterious stories created around this special creature.
Overnight in Hanoi.

Hanoi - Cat Ba (B/L/-)

Day 05 : Hanoi - Cat Ba (B/L/-)

Breakfast at hotel and transfer to Cat Ba by highway 5. On arrival Got port, take a ferry to Cai Vieng pier.

Our driver will pick you from Cai Vieng pier to hotel in Cat Ba town.
In the afternoon, depart from your hotel (in Cat Ba) and go to the National park. Visit Quan Y Cave, used as a military hospital during American War in Vietnam.  Continue to the park gate and set off on a 90 minute walk through the forest, then climb Ngu Lam Peak which offers you a panoramic view of the surrounding mountain.

Back to hotel in the late afternoon.
Overnight at hotel in Cat Ba town.

Cat Ba - Lan Ha Bay - Viet Hai village (B/L/-)

Day 06 : Cat Ba - Lan Ha Bay - Viet Hai village (B/L/-)

Transfer to Ben Beo pier and embark on a boat trip to Lan Ha Bay, characterized by thousands of limestone islands.
The density and small size of the islets create an unrivaled charm as you sneak through the islands and floating fishing villages.

After a 1.5 hour boat trip, we will arrive at Viet Hai pier where you will take a bike or stroll in the wilderness surrounded by limestone mountains.  Discover Viet Hai village in the middle of the valley which is inhabited by hundreds of fishermen. Return to the pier, embark the boat and continue the cruise to 3 awesome beaches with white sand and clear water, an ideal place for kayaking and swimming. A sumptuous seafood lunch will be served on the boat.
The cruise heads back to Ben Beo pier in the afternoon. Transfer back to your hotel and relax.
 

Cat Ba - Transfer back to Hanoi (B/-/-)

Day 07 : Cat Ba - Transfer back to Hanoi (B/-/-)

Free in the morning at Cat Co beaches. In the afternoon, transfer back to Cai Vieng pier. Embarkation a ferry to Got pier, our driver will pick you up back to Hanoi.
Arrive in Hanoi, check in hotel and free to discover the city at night.
Overnight in Hanoi.

Hanoi - Fly to Danang - Hoian (B/-/-)

Day 08 : Hanoi - Fly to Danang - Hoian (B/-/-)

Breakfast at your hotel and free till transfer to airport for short flight to Danang.
Upon arrival, get a pick to hotel in Hoian ancient town.

Some real treasures that need to be discovered are Hoian Museum, Japanese bridge, China Town, Quan Thang ancient house, the local market and the old busy port of the 15th century for the international boats from China, Netherlands, Japan, and Poland.
Finally, visit the Thang Loi silk factory, known as a good establishment in Hoian to have tailor-made silk clothes.

In the evening, Embark on a small boat in Hoian town then depart to Thu Bon River which was once a very busy exchange place for a lot of international ships throughout the 15th century. The boat trip will take you along the river. This is a good chance for you to appreciate the landscape of the peaceful village by the river bank and admire the fishermen’s activities on the river. Enjoy the sunset in the late afternoon from April to November.
Overnight at Hoian.
 

Authentic activities to Kim Bong - Tra Nhieu - Cam Thanh villages (B/L/-)

Day 09 : Authentic activities to Kim Bong - Tra Nhieu - Cam Thanh villages (B/L/-)

Depart from your hotel in Hoian town either by bike or by boat to Kim Bong Village by the Thu Bon River.
Start a discovery in Kim Bong. This village has long been known for its wood carving. At first, the artisans inherited the techniques from the northern Vietnamese. Later, from business exchange, they could successfully adopt the know-how of Chinese and Japanese sculptures and cultivate their own style.

Stroll around the village to understand their daily life and visit a carpenter's workshop to admire their talent. It is possible to buy some wood products for your souvenirs.
After that, you can enjoy a 5km bike ride or motorbike taxi (if you choose not to ride a bike) from Kim Bong to Tra Nhieu. This is a real immersion into the countryside in the center of Vietnam. 
The trip will allow some unprecedented meetings for instance, Ms Duoc with the mat weaving, Mr Kha with the bamboo sampan basket making and Mr Huynh Ri with his craftsman shipyard.
A countryside landscape of palm and rice fields, buffaloes and farmers in the fields will surround you along the way.

Arrive in Tra Nhieu, then set off on a boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Cam Thanh Village.
Enjoy some green tea at Mr Day's fisherman family then re-embark the bamboo sampan basket to go crab catching in the water palm tree forest. This is a relaxing moment after hours of biking.
Lunch at Mr Day.

After lunch, enjoy a nice walk in the village to discover how they make nipa for roofs and their daily activities.
Return to your hotel by 15:30
 

Hoian - Danang - fly to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city) (B/-/-)

Day 10 : Hoian - Danang - fly to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city) (B/-/-)

Free in the morning, then meet our driver for a transfer to airport for flight to Saigon.

On arrival, get a pick up to hotel and enjoy a full day city tour:  Explore the Reunification palace (or the war memorials Museum), Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office inspired by Orsay Station in Paris.
Then, transfer to Cho Lon District to discover its old quarter, Binh Tay Market and the colorful Quan Am pagoda, one of the oldest pagodas in the city. Its architecture and decorations have remained since its construction.

Return to Saigon city for a walk in the city center visiting sites like the former Catinat streets, the Opera house, City Hall as well as Ben Thanh market.
Overnight in Saigon

Saigon - Ben Tre (B/L/D)

Day 11 : Saigon - Ben Tre (B/L/D)

Our tour guide and driver meet you at your hotel for your transfer to Ben Tre, a beautiful region  in the Mekong Delta River, famous for making coconut candy.

Arrive at Hung Vuong pier, then take a boat trip on the Ben Tre River to discover the daily local life.
Stop to visit the brick kiln of Mr Tu Lo and discover the craft methods of making bricks.
Next, visit the coconut factory and meet Mr Vo Van Ba. He is a man passionate about traditional music and has spent all his life making a collection of fifty folk instruments. Here, you can attend a show to appreciate his passion.
Continue your boat trip on a canal to Nhon Thanh Village. This will be an opportunity to taste the fresh fruits.

Take a bike ride (or Tuk tuk) on a small path through the villages and enjoy views of the coconut ranges, rice fields and vegetable gardens. A lunch of Elephant fish ear is served in the village. A short walk will help you to discover the local life in depth. This is followed by a boat ride on the small canal shaded by the wild palm trees.

For those who wish to ride a bike, you can go to Mr Sau Khanh’s house to admire his collection of ancient objects, then continue through the rice fields and meet the locals and join them in their work.

Dinner and overnight in Ben Tre.

Ben Tre - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Can Tho (B/L/-)

Day 12 : Ben Tre - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Can Tho (B/L/-)

Breakfast at homestay, departs to Cai Be. Visit Dong Tam Snake farm and Cao Dai temple on the way.

Upon arrival, embark on a boat trip on a branch of the Mekong River to Vinh Long. Experience the rhythm of life on the legendary Mekong River with a visit to Cai Be floating market and the orchid canals .
Visit crafts workshops of rice, popcorn, coconut caramel and rice cake.
Cycle or walk on the village paths to discover the ancient and beautiful Phu Chau pagoda where serenity reigns and meet the local people.

Enjoy  lunch in an open air restaurant where you can taste a famous local specialty, the Elephant Fish ear. Then enjoy tasting delicious fruits while rowing a small rowboat in the canals shaded by the fruit trees.
Continue your boat trip to Vinh Long and meet our driver at the pier for a transfer to Can Tho. Arrive in Can Tho in the late afternoon.  Check in at your hotel and relax.

Enjoy free time on your own to discover the city located on the Mekong River.
Stay overnight in Can Tho.

Can Tho - Soc Trang - Vi Thanh (B/L/D)

Day 13 : Can Tho - Soc Trang - Vi Thanh (B/L/D)

Have breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the pier for a boat trip to visit Cai Rang floating market, the largest and most lively market in the Mekong Delta.
There are so many colors and smells in the bubbling atmosphere where hundreds of sampans are filled with goods such as rice, fruits, and craft products . Everything is shown to sell from the early morning.

We leave the market and continue the boat trip through the canals and visit a fruit garden (Option - replace the garden with the nursery field by the river)
Head back to An Binh Market which is full of fish, fruits and vegetables.

Drive 65km to Soc Trang. Visit Soc Trang Museum which displays the Khmer culture, Doi pagoda ( Bats Pagoda), Khmer Khleng pagoda and Dat Set Pagoda.
Travel via road to Vi Thanh.  Enjoy dinner and stay overnight in Kim Lan homestay
 

Vi Thanh - Can Tho - Long Xuyen (B/-/-)

Day 14 : Vi Thanh - Can Tho - Long Xuyen (B/-/-)

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then enjoy cycling in the beautiful, green landscapes typical of the Mekong delta. Pass through small rural paths, fruit gardens and encounter the local people. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
Return to your homestay for refreshments.

Depart to Long Xuyen, visit the ancient house of Binh Thuy( also called the orchid house) and Bang Lang Stork garden. En-route, visit the fishing nets factory and the crocodile farm.
Check into the hotel in Long Xuyen and relax.
 

Long Xuyen - Tra Su - Chau Doc (B/-/-)

Day 15 : Long Xuyen - Tra Su - Chau Doc (B/-/-)

Have breakfast then visit the animated and authentic floating market and village in Long Xuyen on a small tributary of the Mekong River. Discover the daily activities of people living by the river.


After that, back to our car for a transfer to Tra Su reserve, an exceptional biodiverse ecosystem with a typical indigo forest.
This is also a famous bird park, known for a variety of species.

Return to Chau Doc to discover Sam Mountain (287m) with colorful temples and Pagodas (Xu Lady Pagoda, Thoai Ngoc Hau temple, Tay An pagoda). It's possible to walk up to the top of mountain or take a motorbike taxi  to enjoy the awesome sunset over the border between Vietnam and Cambodia

Enjoy breakfast before transferring back to Saigon via Sa Dec where we can visit Kien An Cung pagoda and Huynh Thuy Le's house from the novel by Marguerite Duras  'L’Amant – the Lover'.
Discover the local market in Sa Dec which is rich in fruits, vegetables, and fish.
Arrive in Saigon in the late afternoon.
