Limestone Mountains of Bai Tu Long Bay
Bai Tu Long is also associated with an interesting legend that locals always tell visitors when they first visit. The formation of the bay reflects the process of building and defending the country over thousands of years.
The rich ecosystem is the difference between Bai Tu Long and Ha Long
According to the legend, Ngoc Hoang sent the mother dragon to bring a herd of baby dragons to the world in order to help and support the Vietnamese to fight the enemy. The dragons pulverized countless pearls which instantly turned into thousands of islands and islets in the sea, preventing enemy ships from entering the mainland. These islands were like solid walls blocking the advance of the enemy.
Unlike Halong, Bai Tu Long Bay has many marine economic activities such as aquaculture, with large fishing villages
After the war ended, the dragon mother and child did not return to heaven. They stayed on earth, the place where the mother dragon first landed now becomes Halong, and Bai Tu Long is for baby dragons.
At Bai Tu Long Bay, visitors sometimes also come across the small houses of the locals
The fishing villages mainly raise oysters, clams and groupers
Bai Tu Long Bay oysters are considered the second best in Vietnam due to their sweetness, saltiness and large size
Fishing is also the main occupation of fishermen in Bai Tu Long Bay
