Hanoi is ranked 83rd, while Ho Chi Minh City is 76th in the recently published list of the 100 most attractive cities in the world by Euromonitor International.

Remarkable advances for Vietnam's two metropolises

According to Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations Index 2024, Vietnam is represented by two iconic cities. Hanoi has risen 15 places to reach 83rd, while Ho Chi Minh City climbed 9 places to 76th. The ranking is based on an analysis of 55 different metrics across six key pillars, including economic and business performance, tourism performance, tourism infrastructure, tourism policies and attractiveness, health and safety, and sustainability.

Hanoi captivates visitors with its rich historical and cultural heritage, featuring emblematic sites such as the Temple of Literature, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, and Hoan Kiem Lake. When it comes to gastronomy, the capital is a veritable invitation to delight, with specialties such as pho, banh mi, and bun cha. Ho Chi Minh City, for its part, is dynamic and modern, distinguished by its young, vibrant atmosphere, varied shopping malls, and numerous leisure activities. According to the Hanoi Tourism Department, between January and November 2024, the capital welcomed some 25.33 million visitors, an increase of 11.7% on the previous year. Among them, 5.67 million were international tourists, marking a 35.8% rise and surpassing the annual target of 5.5 million. Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City recorded 5.34 million international tourists during the same period, reflecting a 15.6% increase from the previous year.
